St. John Bosco Clinic and its fundraising and awareness organization, SSJ Health Foundation, have announced the hiring of new executive directors, Luz Gallardo and Anthony Pinto, respectively, following the retirement of Berta Cabrera, who acted as the executive director for both institutions for the past 10 years.

Luz Gallardo has been promoted to executive director of St. John Bosco Clinic, effective Oct. 1, 2021. Gallardo has served as clinic supervisor for the past nine years, where she was responsible for the daily operations of the clinic. Prior to St. John Bosco Clinic, she worked for Mercy Hospital in the Case Management Department for 16 years. In her new role as executive director, she is in charge of clinic administration, strategic planning, and program and policy development.

Anthony Pinto has been appointed to be the new executive director of the SSJ Health Foundation as of Nov. 1, 2021. In this role, Pinto is responsible for continuing to raise awareness of the medical needs of the uninsured in the community and promoting the mission of St. John Bosco Clinic. Pinto will lead the foundation’s philanthropic efforts to benefit the clinic and be responsible for administration, development and fundraising. Prior to SSJ Health Foundation, Pinto was the director of campus ministry at St. Thomas University.

“I leave this wonderful organization after many years with the confidence that both Luz and Anthony will lead with the highest levels of commitment to provide our community’s most vulnerable with healthcare in a supportive and caring environment,” Cabrera said.

For almost 30 years, the St. John Bosco Clinic has provided much needed free healthcare services to adults and children who would otherwise have nowhere to turn. Thanks to the support of donations, the clinic provides medical services to over 1,100 uninsured patients, and over 4,200 medical visits per year.
