The entire foundation mat of 14,677 cubic yards will be the base of the 83- story Panorama Tower, planned to be the tallest residential tower on the Eastern seaboard south of New York. The continuous pour also was a record for Miami, comprising more than 1,200 loads of concrete and totaling 11,737 cubic yards; it began at 12:01 a.m. on Saturday morning and was concluded 22.5 hours later at 10:30 p.m. on Saturday night.
“This history-making pour was in the planning stages for over six months,” said Tibor Hollo, FECR chair and president. “Coordinating such an enormous project of material and manpower is a monstrous task, and we are extremely pleased with the performance of everyone involved who worked together to execute and complete this massive endeavor without a hitch.
“Now, construction on-site continues at a steady pace, and we look forward to delivering Panorama Tower, a global landmark development of which the City of Miami and its residents will be very proud,” he added.
Additional details of the main mat pour at Panorama Tower include: 584 auger cast piles as deep as 120 feet totaled 16 miles in length; over 3,500 tons of reinforcing steel installed (enough to make almost 4,000 Volkswagen Beatles); 13.5 million pounds of cement; 15.3 million pounds of sand; 25.8 million pounds of rock; 495,000 gallons of water; and six concrete pumps running continuously, averaging almost 100 cubic yards per hour.
When complete, Panorama Tower will rise 830 feet over the Miami skyline, as the tallest building in the state of Florida. The mixed-use residential development will be situated on the largest parcel of property in the epicenter of Brickell Avenue, with a depth of 500 feet to Brickell Bay Drive. In total, the existing office towers at 1101 Brickell and the new building will represent approximately 3 million square feet of construction on the site.
Panorama Tower has received financing from a team led by Wells Fargo Bank, and the $340 million construction loan is the largest in South Florida.
The 19-story pedestal of the tower will contain over 100,000 square feet of medically oriented office space with a teaching facility.
Underneath the medical facility will be a 2,000-car parking garage. Lining the garage to the east on Brickell Bay Drive will be a 208-room hotel. Further, both the ground floor and second levels of the pedestal will include more than 50,000 square feet of high-end retail outlets and restaurant space. Above the pedestal will be the residential tower, consisting of 64 stories and 821 luxury rental apartments. The architect for Panorama Tower is Moshe Cosicher, AIA.
The entire Panorama Tower project is expected to cost over $800 million and bring a significant number of jobs to the area, including approximately 1,300 construction jobs necessary to build the new tower. The entire complex will have approximately 192 permanent management employees, 800 tenant employees, and 220 visiting students.
