Summer Camp returns to Miami Seaquarium with prehistoric exhibit ‘Savage Ancient Seas’

Summer vacation is just a couple of months away and many parents are already looking for exciting ways to keep their children learning and having fun all summer.

Summer Camp 2019 at Miami Seaquarium is a unique experience for kids to learn about marine life while also having a blast with hands-on animal interactions, watching one of a kind live dolphin, sea lion and killer whale shows, and participating in classic summer camp games and crafts.

To top it off, this year’s camp features the stunning, limited time exhibit, “Savage Ancient Seas.” Savage Ancient Seas displays lifesize replicas of ancient sea animals alongside actual fossils from the days of the dinosaurs.

This year’s camp will run from June 10 to Aug. 16 for campers ages 5 to 15 years old. Camp activities will be focused on the following themes “Marine Mysteries,” “Seaside Superheros,” “Ocean Olympics,” “Tide Pool Travels” and “Dinosaur Detectives.”

Miami Seaquarium Summer Camp also offers the Counselor-in-Training program (CIT) to 15-year-old campers. The CIT program includes all the fun with the additional bonus of leadership opportunities for campers hoping to become counselors in the future or just looking to get some leadership experience under their belt.

Register online before June 1 and get the early bird special rate of $175 per week. Or pre-register online by the Friday before the beginning of each week for the special rate of $195. Miami Seaquarium is offering an entire five-week session for just $850, a $1,250 value. (Campers must register online for a full five-week consecutive session to receive the special pricing.) Special rates are available for annual pass holders.

Optional camp upgrades are available for additional pricing.

Campers age 5 and up can enroll in the Dolphin Encounter program. They’ll have the opportunity to touch, feed, play and learn training techniques with these amazing animals. Campers ages 10 and up can enroll in the Dolphin Odyssey program, including all of the above experiences plus a dolphin dorsal pull. Children must be 52 inches in height to taller to participate in this program. Campers ages 10 and up also have the option of signing up for Reef Encounter, Sea Trek. Campers will put on a state-of-the-art helmet and have the opportunity to see the reef residents up close and personal. All upgrades have limited spaces.

Camp hours are Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. with early and late care available for an additional charge. For
