The Miami-Dade Public Library System (Library) has officially launched its 2025 summer programs, offering a range of engaging and educational initiatives that support literacy, learning and academic success. These programs foster a love of reading, promote lifelong learning and provide enriching and fun experiences for residents of all ages in Miami-Dade County.
“Our public libraries are a cornerstone of opportunity in Miami-Dade,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. “Through the Summer Reading Challenge and a wide array of educational programs, the library is helping children stay on track academically, supporting adult learners and fostering a lifelong love of reading for residents of all ages.
These free resources ensure that every family has access to learning, growth and inspiration all summer long.”
The library’s 2025 summer programs include the following:
2025 Summer Reading Challenge: Color Our World
The Miami-Dade Public Library System invites the community to read, learn and have fun at the library this summer by joining the 2025 Summer Reading Challenge, themed Color Our World, which continues through July 26. Everyone can take part in the challenge, and participants ages 18 and under can earn weekly rewards by completing and logging any combination of three of the following activities: read a book, read for an hour or attend a library event. Participants 18 and younger will also be automatically entered into a grand prize drawing for a chance to win great prizes.
Designed to promote literacy and keep young minds engaged, the challenge helps prevent the “summer slide” – learning loss that can occur over the summer break. Homework Help & Tutoring Program
Students in grades K-12 can stay engaged, prevent summer learning loss and strengthen their academic skills through the library’s Homework Help & Tutoring Program. Free 60-minute group tutoring sessions in reading, math and science, taught by certified teachers, will be offered every Saturday through Aug. 9, between 10 a.m. and 1 p.m., at 28 library locations. Adult Learning Academy
Miami-Dade County residents ages 18 and older can develop their language skills or prepare for the U.S. citizenship test this summer through the library’s Adult Learning Academy. Free 10-week online courses taught by certified teachers – including English and Spanish language classes for beginner to advanced learners, as well as U.S. citizenship classes – are available during the summer semester, which runs through Aug. 28.
