Super Bowl LIV Invites You to Be Part of History

Rodney Barreto, chairman, Miami Super Bowl Host Committee

The Super Bowl is coming back to Miami for the first time in 10 years. The world will be watching, and hundreds of thousands of people will come to our hotels, restaurants, airports, museums and attractions — many for the first time. It’s critical for our community that when these guests come from around the world, they have an experience that means they can’t wait to come back, and can’t wait to tell their friends about what it means to #LIVEITMIAMI.

That’s why at the Miami Super Bowl Host Committee we’ve put out the call for the over 10,000 volunteers that will be needed to be our local ambassadors to the world. For security reasons, every guest has to go through a background check and there are certain other requirements too. For all the details and the latest information, check out www.miasbliv.com/volunteer. If you’re high energy, sociable and want to help people have a great time, we’d love to hear from you!

There are many different reasons to get involved in welcoming people to our community and being the first friendly face they see. Because it’s been a decade since the game was last here, nearly everyone who gets involved will be doing it for the first time.

So, maybe it’s time for you or someone you know to join the team too!

  1. I was privileged to participate in the original Super Bowl Committee in Miami, originated by members of the Greater-Miami Host Committee, of which I was founder and Treasurer; together with others fine local individuals; that
proudly served our community without compensation.

This fine organization is responsible for bringing to our area the “Miss Universe Pageant”, “The End of year celebrations”, and other fine events, that
    continue today.

Your comments are not appropriate to others and me, that have worked without compensation; as our time and work on the Committee
was all devoted to this effort.

  2. STUPID RIDICULOUS are words that come to mind. Good luck with getting 10,000 folks to participate. For NOTHING. Meanwhile everyone and everything else benefits. Don’t you guys have a slush fund for expenses like meals and travel?? Wtf??

  3. I agree that seems unrealistic to ask individuals to give up their time and energy for nothing. Absolutely, nothing, that doesn’t appear to be going what is best for Miami. Today, the NCAA approved to pay athletes after all these years, universities have prospered tremendously off top athletes name and talent. Ironically, this committee is asking for dedicated volunteers to support Miami’s economic growth, yet there aren’t any tangible or monetary benefits. Not good. Not good. Let’s be real individuals that are employed may not have time to volunteer; hence, those who need employment would be applying and benefitting. I must commend the committee on making a laborious task sound worthy.

  4. I find it deeply troubling that your committee would ask for volunteers and not even offer them a stipend or tickets (free, discounted or raffle) to the Super Bowl. With all the corporate sponsorship MIASBLIV receives, where is that money going? How did the committee arrive at that number of 10,000? It seems to me you’re going to get what you pay for – or not.

Miami is one of the most expensive communities in the U.S. where there is a great disparity between working class wages and cost-of-living. I’m really shocked at this decision to not even offer a minimum wage. Businesses are going to thrive during Super Bowl week while these “ambassadors” earn nothing and are being asked to go through processes as if they are applying for a paid position. I’m sure there are people who would be happy to do this but to ask for 10,000 seems a bit over the top. I sincerely hope this decision was well thought out and believe that our community deserves better.
