After months of anticipation, Tablé by Bachour, the chic and sophisticated new restaurant from pastry impresario cum restaurateur Antonio Bachour has opened its doors in the Miami Design District.
It is the chef’s most ambitious venture to date, with close to 5,500 square feet of indoor/outdoor cafe, dining and bar space on what can only be described as Miami’s Rodeo Drive. The elegant restaurant will have the soul of a classic Parisian brasserie but with a modern sheen, including a sleek design that will complement its sophisticated culinary offerings.
“Tablé is a restaurant in sync with this time and this place,” said Bachour, whose restaurant empire encompasses outposts in Coral Gables, Doral and Mexico. “Classic technique and French flavors and textures have been a huge part of my career and helped build my reputation. Tablé is an evolution of that and should bring something truly special to Miami, which is now a serious ‘food city’ in its own right.”
Guests will find a warm, inviting space as designed for an indulgent night out (pretty much any night in Miami these days), a delicious lunch and respite from the office or a quick bite on the go. A gorgeous cafe will encompass the west side of the former Prada space; a lovely corner spot but one that required a complete build out – no meager feat.
In the cafe folks can find delicious, brewed-to-order coffee and espresso, a panoply of baked goods including bread, croissants, pastries, and more, Iberico jamon carved-to-order, and a grab and go market where customers can purchase items ranging from freshly baked breads to Jamon Serrano sliced to order.
The new restaurant signals a departure from Chef’s other Florida concepts and an evolution of his talent. Here, Bachour surpasses the bakery/café model with a high-end dining and imbibing establishment perfectly suited for the district and its upscale shopping, art and restaurant scene.
“I am so excited to be opening Tablé in one of Miami’s most sought-after neighborhoods,” Bachour said. “The idea for this restaurant has been with me for years and it’s a dream to make it a reality in the Design District. Tablé brings together the many things I have learned over the course of my career. Classic French technique has been a foundation for my style and this restaurant is an extension of that. “What it will not be is an upscale version of what I am known for. Tablé will have its own identity with a full bar featuring creative and classic libations, a carefully curated wine program, beautifully rendered modern but soulful food and, naturally, the caliber of desserts we are known for.”
Located at180 NE 40 St., the former Prada showroom has been reimagined by designer Jorge Gonzalez in collaboration with Vertical Design Studio. Gonzalez, who helped make the light airy look for Bachour Coral Gables a reality, has created a beautiful modern space notable for a sleek bar, modern, minimalist décor and lush greenery, seating 69 indoors and 42 outdoors, with additional connected space for takeaway items in the atrium of the 3930 NE Second Avenue building.
Upon entering the restaurant proper, guests will get a behind-the-scenes look into the heart of everything Bachour does; represented here in a glassed-in bakery and pastry studio.
Adjacent to it, the market, resplendent with grab and go items, display cases showcasing beautiful jewel-like pastries, loaves of breads and an attended charcuterie station. Of course, gorgeous coffee creations will flow daily from the cafe.
To the west, the cafe and bakery; to the east, an inviting bar, seating 16 and featuring commissioned artwork created by local artist Arlex Campos. The bar at Tablé promises to be a great spot for a post-shopping (or post-work) glass of wine, champagne or one of the restaurant’s signature cocktails. Between the bar and bakery, is the sublime and sophisticated dining room, where guests will indulge in breakfast, lunch, dinner and, later, weekend brunch.
For a delicious morning bite, breakfast offerings will include a croissant sandwich with smoked trout; Berkshire bistro ham benedict and scrambled eggs on Toasted Challah with Bacon Jam and Black Truffle.
Lunch standouts include salt cod frites and fried artichokes; beef tartare a la Maison; lobster flatbread with stracciatella and bacon; an array of sandwiches (barbecue pork demi on baguette), pastas, fresh fish and meat offerings ranging from Ora King salmon and veal schnitzel cordon bleu.
Dinner will dazzle with a number of items returning from lunch as well as an array of signature items. Highlights include caviar and chips; torchon de foie gras; L’Escargot Classique; Gulf shrimp panzanella salad with Key West pink shrimp and housemade croutons; all perfectly situated as meal-starters.
Mains run the gamut from uni and caviar taglioni, lobster frites and black grouper barigoule to Green Circle whole chicken and Cote de Beouf, both for two. Sides include esquites; pomme puree; eggplant caviar and haricot vert, among others.
Bachour, originally from Puerto Rico and of Lebanese descent, has received prestigious awards and accolades since arriving in Miami in 2001 including The Best Chef Award (Milan) and Pastry Chef of 2019 (Esquire). Years spent traveling the world’s best restaurants, studying culinary techniques and evolving as a chef and opening restaurants in Mexico, have led to the culmination of Bachour’s efforts and talent at Tablé. Here, Bachour prepares to shine in all categories, with the same distinctive approach to revolutionizing the culinary industry he has displayed at his other concepts around the world to date.
Tablé by Bachour is open seven days a week. Breakfast will be served 8-11 a.m.; lunch will be served from 11 a.m.-3 p.m. Dinner will be offered 5-11 p.m.
