The Oolite Arts Board of Directors has announced veteran arts leader Tania Castroverde Moskalenko as the organization’s interim CEO. Castroverde Moskalenko will replace Dennis Scholl, who retired in September.
As Interim CEO, she will be responsible for the overall leadership of the organization as it begins its national search for a new leader.
“We are delighted to appoint Tania as the interim CEO of Oolite Arts,” said Marie Elena Angulo, chair of the board of directors. “Tania’s appointment as interim CEO provides us with solid, skilled and consistent leadership as we begin the process of searching for a permanent president and CEO and prepare for the next stage in the building of our new campus.”
Currently an arts and culture consultant, Castroverde Moskalenko served as executive director of Miami City Ballet from 2018 to 2022. There, she launched and completed an ambitious $55 million capital campaign during a global pandemic, led the development of the company’s first diversity, equity and inclusion strategy and secured touring partnerships for the company across the United States.
In addition to her leadership at Miami City Ballet, Castroverde Moskalenko served as CEO of The Auditorium Theatre of Roosevelt University, a National Historic Landmark in Chicago; as president and CEO of The Center for the Performing Arts in Carmel, IN, and as executive director of the Germantown Performing Arts Centre in Germantown, TN.
She holds a bachelor’s degree in theater/dance from the University of Memphis, a master’s in philanthropy from Indiana University, an executive certification in non-profit financial management from Harvard Kennedy School, and an executive certification in arts and cultural leadership from Harvard Business School. A Cuban American raised in Miami, Castroverde Moskalenko is the co-chair elect of Philanthropy Miami.
“I am honored and excited to step into the role of interim CEO at Oolite Arts during this time of transition. I am eager to work with the team to build on its strong foundation and chart a course for the future,” Castroverde Moskalenko said.
Founded on Miami Beach in 1984 as a space for artist studios, Oolite Arts is now one of Florida’s largest artist support organizations. Today the nonprofit offers holistic programming that elevates artists’ work at all stages of their careers, through artist residencies, financial support, and professional development programming.
Oolite Arts is conducting a national search for a new president and CEO.
