Several local Woman’s Club members attended the “Learn How To Stop Online Predators” program hosted by Temple Judea and the National Council of Jewish Women on Feb. 21.
Miami-Dade County State Attorney Kathy Fernandez Rundle and her Sex Crimes Department social media experts gave important information on how to safeguard our children and families against online predators.
Real cases in the area were shared on how online predators use manipulation to get online images of young people for “sexploitation” of them. This term sexploitation is when a person is blackmailed with revealing sexual images of them in order to gain money, sex or even acquiring the victim as humans capital for future sex trafficking. Many of these crimes start with children.
Useful tools were given to the audience to discuss with their children and families.
Instructions were shared on how to review and protect home computers and social media sites from predators.
Special guest Miami-Dade County Mayor Danielle Levine Cava also was also in attendance.
