In the 19th Century, a current of romantic thoughts emerge in literature and the arts, creating a new relationship with nature and exalting the ideals of purity and innocence. The ballet takes on a magical atmosphere where unrequited love, the moon, death, the realm of the spirit and the mysteries of nature predominate, thus the so-called “White Ballets” emerge.
In this classic performance the Cuban Classical Ballet of Miami (CCBM) pays tribute and highlights the best loved moments from famous romantic 19th Century “White Ballets” by some of the most revered choreographers and composers of the time — Les Sylphides, La Bayadere, Swan Lake and Giselle — featuring International Cuban Ballet Stars and CCBM Corp soloists, with beautiful costumes and scenery.
A performance is scheduled on Saturday, Jan. 29, 8 p.m., in the
Fillmore Miami Beach at the Jackie Gleason Theater, 1700 Washington Ave. The performance also will be live streamed.
CCBM was founded in 2007 by the late Cuban director Pedro Pablo Pena. Artistic director Eriberto Jimenez is dedicated to continue CCBM’s mission to promote and preserve the Classical Ballet repertoire, technique and style as exemplified by the famed Cuban School of Ballet alive, and to promote exiled Cuban and Latin ballet stars who have come to dance with the CCBM and find a home here in the USA and abroad.
