JB Contemporary, in collaboration with the Artisans of Florence and The Niccolai Group, partnered to present the “Da Vinci Machines & Robotics Exhibition” launch on Friday, Feb. 2.
The event took place at the historic Security Building in Downtown Miami showcasing a night of elegance and with an immersive experience into the mind of Da Vinci and his extraordinary inventions and many one-to-one scale reproductions of his most famous paintings.
“Dramatic, futuristic, inventive…Leonardo Da Vinci was known for being all these things and more, so it seems natural to welcome the Da Vinci Machines & Robotics exhibit to a city like Miami,” said John Copeland, director of Arts and Culture Tourism for the Greater Miami Convention & Visitors Bureau. “Our brand as destination showcases innovative and creative experiences. Visitors from all over the world will enjoy this exhibit’s unique appeal that makes one travel back in time to learn about one of the greatest minds of all time. The Da Vinci Machines & Robotics exhibit adds some extra allure to Miami’s diverse roster of museums and exhibits.”
The historical ambiance of Miami’s Security Building provided a picturesque backdrop for the festivities enhancing the showcase of da Vinci’s masterpieces. Featuring over 60 elements, including some of his most iconic inventions, the exhibition invites visitors to engage with hands-on experiences and interactive exhibits offering a firsthand encounter with the Renaissance polymath’s visionary creations.
“Very few of the concept designs were actually constructed in Leonardo’s time,” said Tom Rizzo, curator for the exhibit and apprentice for the Artisans of Florence. “But we have found that when we build his designs using his plans, even using the same tools and the same materials, the science is spot on; he was far ahead of his time.”
During the 15th Century Da Vinci was renowned for his robotics as much as for his paintings. His inventions have manifested in the modern era. Guests can experience the genius in the Da Vinci Machines & Robotics Exhibition with more than 60 inventions all handcrafted by Florentine artisans using the materials and techniques documented in Leonardo’s technical drawings.
The exhibition is currently open through Mar. 24, welcoming visitors from South Florida Tuesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 7 p.m., with the last admission at 6 p.m. Tickets pricing starts at $28 per person and may be purchased through Eventbrite at https://www.eventbrite.com/e/da-vinci-machines-robotics-interactive-exhibition-tickets-827554697377.
Special rates are available for students, military personnel, seniors, and children ages 7-13, with free admission for children under 7 with valid identification. Bundle rates also are available for groups of six or more guests.
“We invite everyone to join us in exploring the legacy of Leonardo da Vinci and experience the wonders of his inventions,” said Josephine Bodogh, president of JB Contemporary, and who brought this extraordinary exhibit to Miami. “This exhibition promises to be a highlight for South Florida which shows Da Vinci’s most stunning creations while offering a truly captivating and educational experience for all.”
