On Saturday, August 2, 2025, at 9:00 a.m., over 1,000 students and their families gathered at Auburndale Elementary School, located at 3255 SW 6th Street, Miami, FL 33135, to enjoy a vibrant day filled with fun activities such as face painting, snow cones, art projects, music, and more, all part of theheartwarming Back-to-School Backpacks and Supplies Giveaway.
Hosted by School Board Chair and District 6 Representative Mari Tere Rojas in partnership with Miami-Dade County Commissioner Eileen Higgins, District 5, the event exemplified the power of community collaboration and commitment to student success. Chair Rojas and Commissioner Higgins warmly welcomed families and extended their best wishes for a safe, joyful, and productive 2025–2026 school year.
This meaningful initiative provided students with the essential tools they need to start the academic year confidently and prepared. The strong turnout highlighted the community’s dedication to educational support for every child. Despite the long lines, the atmosphere was filled with gratitude, excitement, and a true sense of unity.

Auburndale Elementary for their tireless efforts and gracious hospitality. Appreciation is also due to the many volunteers whose dedication was instrumental to the event’s success.
