The Miami Foundation, the leading philanthropic organization in Miami-Dade County, recently announced a collaboration with Miami-Dade County and the City of Miami to present its newly launched LaborMiami.org portal as a robust workforce and business resource for Miami.

The online tool serves as a career development resource for Greater Miami, providing students, job seekers, entrepreneurs, and employers with free access to the tools, training, and information they need to build successful careers in industries that are powering Miami’s growing economy. The collaboration will increase visibility, and ultimately lead to more residents leveraging these available workforce resources.

“LaborMiami.org brings together dozens of community resources into a single space, to help all Miamians find their pathway to economic success,” said The Miami Foundation CEO Rebecca Fishman Lipsey. “By providing both user-friendly labor market data, and access to critical wraparound services, we’re committed to building a Miami that works for everyone.”

In 2019, catalyzed by a $3 million grant from JPMorgan Chase’s AdvancingCities initiative, The Miami Foundation joined efforts with the City of Miami, the Health Foundation of South Florida, Catalyst Miami, Florida International University, and other local partners to tackle regional workforce challenges through a systems-change approach.

Together, the collaborative launched the LaborMiami.org platform, which integrates a network of service providers, increases access to quality jobs and supports small businesses in attaining growth opportunities.

“We are excited to announce LaborMiami.org as the county’s leading labor platform. This effort marks another significant milestone for our county as we work to connect people with jobs and invest in a stronger, more resilient workforce,” said Miami-Dade County Mayor Daniella Levine Cava. “We’re proud that the portal was created by community-based organizations and leaders who share the same common goal: ensuring that all residents can thrive and grow in Miami-Dade County and creating greater economic opportunity for all our families.”

The LaborMiami.org resource provides students, jobseekers, and small businesses alike the access to tools, training, and information to build successful careers in the industries powering our region’s growing economy. It works with anchor institutions and technical service providers to connect small businesses to procurement opportunities and access to capital, while also providing up-to-date labor market data on the fastest-growing employment sectors in Miami-Dade County for both students and job-seekers.

LaborMiami.org also connects users to the critical wraparound services like childcare, transportation, and digital literacy required to succeed in the 21st century economy.

“Labor Miami is a testament to how we are positioning Miami to create a true pathway to prosperity for all,” said Miami Mayor Francis Suarez. “With this platform, we can unlock crucial resources for small businesses, students, and employers who are driving economic growth and promoting a more inclusive city that highlights Miami’s values of diversity and opportunity. After three years of working with The Miami Foundation on the development of the Labor Miami portal, it is clear that these types of resources are even more urgent now as we recover from the pandemic and undertake a green and just recovery.”

Launched in May 2021 by The Miami Foundation, LaborMiami.org is Miami’s premier career development resource — providing students, jobseekers, entrepreneurs, and employers with access to the tools, training, and information they need to build successful careers in industries that are powering Miami’s growing economy. LaborMiami.org was built in collaboration with dozens of nonprofits, government, and private partners and is a free, one- stop, online tool enables job seekers, students, and businesses to identify and easily access workforce and business resources within Miami-Dade County.
