For decades, U.S. Naval Medicine has been synonymous with excellence in biomedical research, disease surveillance, medical diplomacy, and innovation around the world.

MIAMI (Jan. 24, 2023) – A student from G. Join us for LIVE@Frost Science on Tuesday, January 24, at 7:00 PM as Rear Admiral Guido F. Valdes, the Commander, Naval Medical Forces Pacific/Director, San Diego Market and Chief of the Navy Medical Corps, presents Innovations in Navy Medicine. Rear Admiral Valdes will discuss the challenges of providing medical services on the high seas and provide his unique perspective on cutting-edge Navy Medicine research and development, along with current and future U.S. military operational medicine capabilities.  Rear Admiral Valdes is a former resident of Miami and earned his BS and MD degrees from UM. He is one of the highest-ranking Medical Officers in the U.S. Navy.  Admission to LIVE@Frost Science is complimentary. Program will take place inside the Frost Planetarium. Refreshments and light snacks will be available for purchase prior to the event at Food@Science.

About Miami Navy Week

Some 100 sailors from across the Fleet will be in Miami this week participating in Navy Week. The Navy has arranged for hometown sailors from Navy aircraft carriers, along with Navy Divers and Bomb Technicians, Navy meteorologists, and some naval aviators to participate in the week-long series of events that will include visits to local schools and food banks and live dive demonstrations and performances at local attractions and events.   Ceremonial units from Navy Band Southeast, USS Constitution, the U.S. Navy Ceremonial Guard well as operational units from ships like the USS Florida will also be in Miami January 23-29.
