Accomplished actress, singer and producer Lynda Carter will be the special guest at United Way Miami’s 21st annual Women United Breakfast on Apr. 13, at Univeristy of Miami’s Watsco Center.
Presented by Leslie Miller-Saiontz, the event will engage business, civic and philanthropic female leaders passionate about making a difference in our community.
Last year, Women United leaders raised $2.2 million in gifts to positively impact the South Florida community in the areas of early education, public policy advocacy and efforts to build financial equity while inspiring and empowering the next generation of women.
Carter will engage in conversation about her experiences in the entertainment industry, her recording career, motherhood, her philanthropic ventures and more.
“I am so excited to meet and hear from many women who are making a difference in Miami, whether through business, civic engagement, or philanthropic work,” Carter said. “I have witnessed just how powerful and transformative it can be when women come together to share their ideas. United Way Miami is creating an important space for us to gather and learn about the work these amazing women leaders are doing to advance the needs of this wonderful city and its people.”
Best known for winning our hearts as TV’s Wonder Woman on the eponymous 1970s television series, Lynda Carter also is an accomplished singer who has performed to rave reviews for sold-out crowds around the world. She made her professional singing debut at the age of 14 and after a short stint, found herself in Hollywood landing the part of Wonder Woman, a character she infused with depth and humor.
Although she loved acting, her roots remained with her music. She continued to act in films and television and later took some time off to raise her family. In 2007, she began touring again in venues across the country with her band and took her concerts to major theaters across the U.S. including The Kennedy Center in Washington, DC, and Jazz at Lincoln Center in New York City. She has released some albums: Portraits (1978), At Last (2010), Crazy Little Things (2011) and Red, Rock n’ Blues (2018).
In recent years, she has starred as Magnolia in the Fallout 4 video game series, where she wrote and performed several original songs that were nominated for NAVGTR awards. Her recent releases include the 2021 EP Unexpected and her latest single, the original pop ballad Human and Divine. Produced by her longtime record producer Kyle Lehning, the song is nothing less than an epic with themes of love, strength and inspiration in her life resonating throughout.
She is an avid supporter of many nonprofit organizations and causes including The Alzheimer’s Drug Discovery Foundation and The Women’s Alzheimer’s Movement, The Coelho Center for Disability Law, Policy and Innovation, Susan G. Komen Race for the Cure,
The Barbara Bush Foundation for Family Literacy, GLAAD, and The Harry Potter Alliance.
She currently is working for City of Hope and TGen to discover new drug therapies for mylo-fibrosis patients and was just named to the advisory Board of the Smithsonian American Women’s History Musuem.

The breakfast is exclusive to members of United Way Women United. Led by co-chairs Jennifer A. Marques and Karyl Argamasilla, Women United represents a group of 2,200 of Miami’s most inspiring women who unite to focus on issues of shared concern. Members come together to celebrate women who continue to break glass ceilings, change the rules of the game and make history. Each member supports United Way’s work in education, financial stability and health, key to building a stronger and better Miami for all. Women United is connected to a global, growing force of women dedicated to creating a world of opportunity for everyone.
Past breakfast speakers have included executive vice president of Forbes Media and president and publisher ofForbesWomen, Moira Forbes; Emmy Award-winning television show host, entrepreneur and bestselling author, Martha Stewart; former chair and CEO of PepsiCo, Indra Noovi; creative director and founder behind the lifestyle brand AERIN, Aerin Lauder; vice chair of the Clinton Foundation, Chelsea Clinton; Academy award winning actress, Goldie Hawn, and former Paramount Studios CEO, Sherry Lansing, among others.
