United Way Miami celebrates ’24 Volunteer Award Winners

United Way Miami held its Annual Meeting and Volunteer Awards at the Ritz-Carlton, Coconut Grove, on Monday, June 17.

Each year, United Way Miami welcomes supporters to join president and CEO Symeria Hudson, alongside the board of directors chair, to recognize volunteers who have made an incredible impact on the community.

Guests included United Way’s corporate partners, non-profit partners, community leaders, award honorees and members of United Way’s Giving Communities.

2024 Volunteer Award Winners:

Public Service Leadership Award
Florida State Rep. Vicki  L.  Lopez, District 113.

Monsignor Walsh Outstanding Human Services Professional Award
T. Willard Fair, president and CEO, Urban League of Greater Miami Inc.

Essie Silva Community Builder Award
Thelma Gibson, founding sponsor, board member and namesake, Thelma Gibson Health Initiative Inc.

Dorothy Shula Outstanding Volunteerism Award
Robert E. Sanchez, chair and CEO, Ryder System Inc.

Outstanding Youth Award
Milana Lamdan, eighth grade, Norman S. Edelcup Sunny Isles Beach K-8.
Zahra Marie Ronizi, 12th grade, Alonzo and Tracy Mourning Sr. High.
