Miami-based litigation boutique Podhurst Orseck has announced the addition of award-winning journalist Laura Rodriguez as the firm’s new director of Communications and Community Affairs.
A Miami native and former reporter for NBC6 South Florida, Rodriguez brings 15 years of broadcast journalism experience to the role. She will lead the firm’s ongoing marketing communications strategy, including managing brand visibility, expanding the firm’s referral and business development networks, and overseeing community engagement initiatives.
Rodriguez began her broadcast career with Telemundo Chicago as a weather anchor before moving on to Telemundo Wisconsin, where she co-anchored the 10 p.m. newscast. She later served as a general assignment reporter for CBS58 in Milwaukee, before returning home in 2013 to join NBC6, where she covered major legal, political, and human-interest stories across South Florida.
“We are thrilled to welcome Laura to the team,” said Steven Marks, Podhurst Orseck managing partner. “Her on-the-ground reporting experience, combined with her deep roots in the Miami community and passion for advocacy, make her an ideal fit for our firm and our clients as we grow our litigation practice in Florida, across the U.S., and around the world.”
Deeply committed to her community, Rodriguez is involved actively with Ronald McDonald House Charities South Florida, supporting families with critically ill children, and advocates for early-intervention therapies for children with special needs across Florida. She is fluent in English and Spanish, with working knowledge of Portuguese.
Rodriguez is a past scholarship recipient from the National Academy of Television Arts and Sciences and has been recognized by the Society of Professional Journalists for excellence in reporting. She is a proud graduate of Northwestern University, where she helped launch the school’s first Spanish-language newscast and contributed to the award-winning Northwestern News Network team.
When she’s not working, Rodriguez enjoys exploring new restaurants, sipping cortaditos, and spending time with her family and friends.
