Wynwood Business Improvement District installs members on board of directors

The Wynwood Business Improvement District (BID) installed seasoned real estate development professional Dylan Finger, managing director of Mana Miami, as the newest member of its board of directors, during regular board meeting on Dec. 7.

Additionally, current board members Albert Garcia and Irving Lerner were reinstated for another two-year term. They join Jonathon Yormak, David Lombardi, David Polinsky and chair Joseph (Joe) Furst on the seven-member board.

The board of the Wynwood BID is charged with setting the policy direction of the organization, a municipal board of the City of Miami with a goal to enhance security and sanitation services in the neighborhood, raise awareness of advancements in the area, and plan for the future of Wynwood. Finger takes the place of founding board member Eli Mitrani, who concluded his time with the BID board following more than three years of service.

“We’re pleased to welcome Dylan Finger to the board and we thank Eli for his years of service to the Wynwood community,” said Tom Curitore, executive director of the Wynwood BID. “Dylan’s professional experience speaks for itself, and the BID will benefit greatly from the unique perspective he brings to the table. We look forward to working with Dylan to continue making Wynwood a vibrant center for art, innovation, education and entertainment.”

wynwood-business-improvement-districtFinger brings more than 20 years of commercial and residential property development experience to his role as managing director of Mana Miami, where he is responsible for management and oversight of all of developer Moishe Mana’s real estate development initiatives in Wynwood and along the Flagler Street corridor in Downtown Miami.

Prior to joining the Mana Miami team, he was the chief operating officer at KMC Corporation, a midsized construction company specializing in commercial projects primarily in the hotel and self-storage sectors. Finger also has an extensive retail background, helping grow an international franchiser from its first concept store to more than 400 stores worldwide.

Returning member Albert Garcia, vice chair of the BID board, is the chief operating officer of Mega Shoes Inc., a multigenerational family business in Wynwood that designs, manufactures and distributes footwear for independent retailers worldwide. Additionally, he serves as managing director of Wynwood Ventures LLC, overseeing his family’s commercial real estate portfolio.

Returning board member Irving Lerner is a practicing veterinarian whose family has been a part of Wynwood since the early 1950s, when his parents began building an operating garment warehouses in the district. For the past 20 years, Irving and his sister have been managing the family real estate in Wynwood and have actively worked to improve the area by investing and bringing in quality tenants who add value to the neighborhood.

Since its creation in 2013, the Wynwood BID has worked to elevate the quality-of-life in Wynwood, promote the area as a destination of choice for locals and visitors alike, and set clear guidelines for responsible future development in the neighborhood. In 2016, the BID took a large step towards that final goal by successfully pushing for city approval of its Neighborhood Revitalization District (NRD) Plan and is now in the process of expanding the BID’s boundaries to include adjacent areas.

The Wynwood BID is a municipal board of the City of Miami representing more than 400 property owners that comprise the 50-city-block Wynwood Arts District. Run by a board of directors who themselves are property owners from the community, the BID works to enhance security and sanitation services in the neighborhood, advocate for the betterment of the area, raise awareness of advancements being made, and plan for the future of Wynwood.
