Amber Kornreich is the recipient of the 2025 Florida Bar Young Lawyers Division Pro Bono Service Award.
The award recognizes public service or legal aid performed by a lawyer who is 35 or younger or who has not practiced for more than five years. The award was presented in a Jan. 16 ceremony streamed live by the Supreme Court of Florida.
Less than one decade into her legal career, Kornreich already has dedicated 450 hours of pro bono service to Miami-Dade residents. Immediately after being admitted to The Florida Bar in 2015, Kornreich joined Dade Legal Aid’s Put Something Back Pro Bono Project and began accepting civil pro bono cases for struggling children, women, teens, victims, and others in dire need. Kornreich takes some of the toughest cases involving victims of domestic violence, contested divorce, and children who have experienced severe trauma.
She is relentless in her representation, compassionate towards her clients, and creative in finding solutions that serve her clients’ needs within a system that is often difficult to navigate for those without resources. Through Put Something Back, Kornreich has handled more than a dozen challenging pro bono cases including divorce, custody, paternity, guardian ad litem, and attorney ad litem.
Moreover, Kornreich supercharges her contributions to pro bono clients by introducing other lawyers to pro bono and encouraging them to take cases. During her term as president of the Miami-Dade Chapter for Women Lawyers (2023-24), Kornreich made pro bono service a priority by, among other things, including a community service component in almost every official MDFAWL event, including supporting a local community fridge program, donating backpacks to women’s shelters, and arranging for MDFAWL members to speak to foster children and underprivileged and at-risk youth. She also has served as co-chair of the MDFAWL Pro Bono Committee for over three years.
