Kendall Regional Medical Center again hosted its annual Valentine’s community event for children and their families in February. The goal of the annual event is to promote heart healthy living to both children and their families.

Children also had the opportunity to bring their teddy bears to get a health checkup at the Teddy Bear Clinic, which was staffed by the hospital’s Women and Children’s Services team. Additionally, children made Valentine’s Day crafts and enjoyed a variety of entertainment such as pony rides, petting zoo, and bounce houses. Also, there were plenty of Valentine’s sweets provided for all.

A favorite part of this year’s event was the pretend surgery area, where children were able to dress up as surgeons with personally decorated surgical caps and masks on which they made Valentine’s drawings. This play area was sponsored by the hospital Robotic Surgery Program staff.

This year’s event included the addition of a Farmer’s Market that had many local produce growers with heart healthy items.

“We are proud to offer this annual event for the children in the community and their families that we serve as a hospital” said Peter Jude, director of Marketing and Public Relations for the hospital. The hospital will be offering another community event in May, as it hosts the second annual Super Hero Safety Fair.

Kendall Regional Medical Center is a 417-bed, full-service hospital providing the residents of Miami-Dade County with 24- hour comprehensive medical, trauma, surgical, behavioral health and diagnostic services, along with a wide range of patient and community services.
