Zoo Miami Foundation proudly announces the appointment of Christina White to its Board of Directors. White joins the Board in her new capacity as Director of the Miami-Dade County Parks, Recreation and Open Spaces (PROS) Department.
A seasoned public servant with over two decades of experience in Miami-Dade County government, White brings a wealth of institutional knowledge, strategic leadership, and a deep commitment to community engagement.
White began her career in 2002 as a public information officer for the Department of Environmental Resource Management. She joined the Elections Department in 2006 and quickly rose through the ranks. Appointed Supervisor of Elections in 2015, she managed Florida’s largest elections operation—overseeing more than 30 elections annually and serving 1.5 million registered voters. Her tenure was marked by operational modernization, including data-driven resource allocation and strengthened cybersecurity protocols. Her leadership during the 2016 presidential election and the 2018 statewide recounts earned her state and national recognition for fairness, transparency, and efficiency.
In 2023, White briefly explored a candidacy for the newly elected Supervisor of Elections position but ultimately chose to guide the department through the pivotal 2024 election cycle before transitioning to lead PROS in 2025.

As Director of PROS, White oversees one of the largest and most diverse parks systems in the country. Her leadership will help strengthen the vital connection between Zoo Miami and Miami-Dade County’s environmental, recreational, and educational initiatives.

A South Florida native, White holds a bachelor’s degree in environmental science from Florida International University. She resides in Miami Shores with her family.
