Miami Children’s Museums’ Winter Camp explores music and the arts

Sunshine, palm trees and cool breezes won’t stop Miami Children’s Museum (MCM), located at 980 MacArthur Causeway on Watson Island in Miami, from bringing winter fun to South Florida.

This year, MCM’s 2015 Winter Camp will be exploring the worlds of music and arts with a particular emphasis on musical theater. The camp will run for two weeks, Dec. 21-31.

While music and arts are the themes of MCM’s 2015 Winter Camp, the main focus will be on musical theater. Inspired by The Wizard of Oz Educational Exhibit, the camp will be a two-week workshop, led by the MCM Players, where campers will create the sets and costumes for their own musical performance. They will learn about music, acting, dance and what it takes to put on a theatrical performance, including backstage activities and theatrical games. The Grand Finale Performance is sure to be a crowd pleaser.

Registration is open for MCM Winter Camps and is available for children in Pre-K (4 years) to fifth grade daily from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m., with First Session: Dec. 21-24 (no camp on Dec. 25) and Second Session: Dec. 28-31 (no camp on Jan. 1, 2016). Cost is $160 per week for members and $180 for non-members. Before and after camp care also is available for an additional fee.
