Boys & Girls Clubs celebrate alumni reunion at Marlins Park

The Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade celebrated its alumni and the positive impact they have made and continue to make in Miami-Dade community and beyond, during the organization’s fourth annual Alumni Reunion & Hall of Fame Induction at Marlins Park on Saturday, Aug. 25.

Alumni, inductees and their families were invited to a special
5 p.m. reception prior to the 7:10 p.m. Miami Marlins vs. Atlanta Braves home game. The event, open to all Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade alumni and former inductees, was sponsored by the Miami Marlins Foundation.

This year’s Alumni Hall of Fame inductees are:
Layne Jackson, former Navy Seal who attended the Kendall Club;
Serge Martinez, surgeon and founder of the first Cochlear Ear Impact who attended the Hank Kline Club;
Paul George, Miami historian who attended the Hank Kline Club;
George Nowicki, retired agent of U.S. Treasury Department who attended Hank Kline Club;
Carl Rentz (deceased), Miami attorney who attended Hank Kline Club, and
Gerald Tinker, Olympic medalist who attended the Hank Kline Club.

The talents, dedication and skills of Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade alumni have affected the South Florida community and beyond in the areas of sports, entertainment, business, medicine, politics, justice, art, education and more. Although the club’s members have all embarked on their own special journeys, they all experienced the life-changing programs facilitated by the caring and compassionate staff at Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade.

Since first opening its doors in 1940, Boys & Girls Clubs of Miami-Dade has provided the diverse youth of South Florida with a supportive environment to learn, thrive and accomplish their dreams.
