Castaways Against Cancer, the No. 1 Relay For Life team of the Lower Keys, has raised a total of $1 million in support of the American Cancer Society (ACS) since its inception with their 19th annual kayaking adventure “Under the Bridge Tour.”

The team launched off the coast of Virginia Key on the morning of Saturday, June 9, paddling a total of 162 nautical miles south toward Key West as a Relay For Life event. Paddling the equivalent of a marathon a day, they made landfall at Smather’s Beach in Key West on Friday, June 15.

Among the team’s paddlers is Luis de la Aguilera, president and CEO of U.S. Century Bank. This will be his seventh trip as a member of the Castaways Against Cancer. This year he is paddling in honor of Alicia Torres who lost her battle to cancer earlier this year. Alicia was the sister of Linda Torres, a Relationship Officer at U.S. Century Bank’s Doral banking center.

U.S. Century Bank sponsors the Castaways Against Cancer team and has been committed to helping them reach their $1 million fundraising goal.
