In celebration of the 35th annual National Night Out on Tuesday, Aug. 7, Miami Police Chief Jorge Colina unveiled the first-ever Miami Police Department Art Car #MPDartcar, showcasing the artwork of local Miami Artist ABSTRK and curated by Goldman Global Arts. The colorful, creative new addition to the Miami Police DAepartment’s fleet looks unlike any other police car in America, but perfectly reflects the unmistakable street art of the Wynwood neighborhood that it serves. The #MPDartcar is the result of a collaborative effort among the Wynwood Business Improvement District, Miami Police Athletic League and Goldman Global Arts. Wynwood District Police Commander Dan Kerr spearheaded the initiative, with the goal of utilizing the car to build bridges between Wynwood street artists, residents, businesses and visitors.
