15th Annual Holy Cross Golf Classic Raises Funds for Partners in Breast Health Program and New Mammography Machine

The 15th Annual Holy Cross Health Golf Classic on February 5 at Coral Ridge Country Club, presented by The Harry T. Mangurian, Jr. Foundation, raised more than $279,000 to support the Partners in Breast Health program and to fund a new mammography machine for the Holy Cross Health Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women’s Center.

Since 2011, the Partners in Breast Health program has provided breast health services to uninsured and underserved women. Minority women face disproportionately high breast cancer mortality rates due to late-stage diagnoses and lack of access to care. This program bridges that gap by offering outreach education, clinical breast exams, screening mammograms and diagnostic procedures to women who lack access to healthcare services. A new mammography machine for the Dorothy Mangurian Comprehensive Women’s Center will allow Holy Cross Health to screen more patients, reduce wait times and provide faster, more accurate results, all while enhancing patient comfort. These initiatives ensure that every woman, regardless of their circumstances, has access to the care she needs.

“Philanthropy, through efforts like this golf tournament, is the driving force behind sustaining critical and vital initiatives that empower women. The impact will be felt across our community for years to come,” said Rob Casalou, Interim President & CEO of Holy Cross Health. “It’s been incredible to embrace the spirit of sportsmanship in support of a cause that truly matters.”

In recognition of his distinguished leadership, commitment and impact as Golf auctioneer for the last 15 years, Gordon Latz was presented with the Legacy of Excellence Award.

“Gordon is truly one of a kind, bringing a special energy, passion and charm to the stage. His ability to engage the room, inspire generosity and make every bid feel like a celebration has been nothing short of remarkable,” said Sheri Whittington, who along with Steve Mehallis, led the golf committee. “Thanks to his leadership and dedication, our auctions have raised significant funds in support of Holy Cross, making a lasting difference in the lives of so many. We are also deeply grateful for the vision, commitment and generosity of the Harry T. Mangurian, Jr. Foundation which has made this event successful for 15 years and counting.”
