Broward Health Medical Center First in South Florida to Use Canon Alphenix Sky Plus with HD76 Detector at New Interventional Radiology Lab

Broward Health celebrated the grand opening of its interventional radiology lab at Broward Health Medical Center with the addition of the Canon Alphenix Sky Plus with the HD76 detector, an advanced imaging tool designed to support complex, minimally invasive procedures across multiple specialties. The health system is the first in South Florida to utilize the new technology.

“As a Level I trauma center, we are committed to innovation and expanding our medical technology to provide the best care for our most critical patients,” said Manny Linares, CEO of Broward Health Medical Center. “This significant investment allows for unparalleled patient care, offering more evidence-based technology.”

The 900-square-foot high-tech suite will help to increase precision and safer treatment for both inpatients and outpatients. Benefits in   clude less invasive procedures that will help minimize physical trauma, promote faster recovery and reduce postoperative infection rates.

“A cutting-edge interventional radiology lab is integral to the health of our medical system,” said Michael Gordon, M.D., Ph.D., medical director of interventional radiology for Broward Health.

Key features of the interventional radiology lab include:

  • Advanced imaging capabilities, with the ability to simultaneously use multiple modalities, including X-ray, CT scan, MRI, and ultrasound.
  • Continuity of care within the Broward Health system, ensuring high-quality care across various medical specialties.
