Residents are urged to prepare for potential disasters
With the 2025 Atlantic hurricane season now underway, the Town of Davie is reminding residents to take proactive steps to prepare their homes and families for potential storms.
The Town offers a variety of resources to assist residents with hurricane preparedness, including:
- Hurricane Guide: Learn how to weather the storms with home protection measures, emergency kit checklists, shelter locations, flood hazard information, emergency plan resources for families, individuals and businesses, and more on the Town’s digital edition of the 2025 Hurricane Guide. HurricaneGuide. - Hurricane Preparedness Resources: The Town’s official website provides information on creating a hurricane plan, assembling an emergency kit, and staying informed during a storm. You can find a complete list of resources at www.davie-fl.gov/DaviePrepares
. - Register for Alert Davie: Sign up for Everbridge, the Town’s emergency notification system, to receive critical updates and alerts during a hurricane or other emergencies. Register at www.davie-fl.gov/AlertCenter or text “AlertDavie” to 888-777.
Hurricane safety and preparedness is critical before the season begins. Residents are encouraged to take the following steps to prepare now:
- Develop a family disaster plan: Know your zone and discuss evacuation plans and shelter locations with your family.
- Assemble an emergency kit: Stock your kit with non-perishable food, water, first-aid supplies, medications, flashlights, batteries, and other essential items.
- Secure your property: Trim trees and shrubs, clear loose objects from around your home, check your storm shutters, and review your insurance policies.
