Only Eight Facilities in US Have Met ACS Standards for Care

Memorial Regional Hospital, the flagship of the Hollywood-based Memorial Healthcare System, has earned admission into the Vascular Surgery Verification Program administered by the American College of Surgeons (ACS). The verification means the hospital meets or exceeds criteria established to ensure vascular surgical and interventional inpatients receive optimal care and treatment.

Only seven other facilities in the United States have met ACS requirements for vascular verification, with Memorial being the only one in Florida and the southeast U.S. The next closest facilities to earn the distinction are in New York and Texas, each approximately 1,300 miles away.

“Our vascular surgery program’s verification by the American College of Surgeons and the Society for Vascular Surgery recognizes our commitment to delivering the highest standards of evidence-based, patient-centered vascular care and continuous quality improvement,” said Memorial Division of Vascular Surgery Chief Dr. Eduardo Rodriguez Zoppi. “It will also foster innovation by promoting the exchange of current and evolving scientific knowledge, surgical techniques, and best practices in vascular surgery.”

Memorial’s vascular program features five board-certified and fellowship-trained surgeons, four advanced practice providers, 24/7 surgical coverage, and an IAC-accredited non-invasive laboratory that supports both neurointerventionalists and interventional radiologists.

The ACS Vascular Surgery Verification Program evaluates facilities by a variety of standards, including institutional commitment, program scope and governance, resources, equipment, services, personnel, clinical care, data abstraction and analysis, and quality improvement. Its verification provides an evidence-driven, standardized pathway for vascular programs to establish and grow their quality improvement and clinical care infrastructure. As a vascular verified hospital, Memorial Regional also becomes an ACS Surgical Quality Partner, signifying the hospital’s dedication to consistently improving procedures, approaches, and processes.
