Changing the tide of fishing by encouraging more female participation
Women are invited to learn offshore fishing skills and experience fishing from boats at the South Florida Ladies, Let’s Go Fishing University, April 11-13, 2025. Co-hosted by the Florida Association of Nonprofits, the “No Yelling School of Fishing” offers Friday networking, Saturday classroom presentations, networking, hands-on skill practice and an optional Sunday charter fishing trip. Events will be held at The Florida Nonprofit Statewide Headquarters, 512 NE 3RD Ave., Ft. Lauderdale, FL.
Activities launch Friday evening with an informal meet-and-greet from 6-7:30pm. On Saturday beginning at 9 am are presentations on Fishing Basics by Capt. Lee Lavery, Offshore Fishing by Capt. Jeanne Towne and Conservation by Betty Bauman. Hands-on skill practice follows, for releasing, knot tying, dehooking, bait rigging, spin casting, cast netting and more until 4:30 pm. On Sunday is an optional charter fishing trip for sailfish, mahi, mackerel, tuna, wahoo, snapper and more, followed by a filet demonstration.
Ladies are welcome to register teens to include the whole family. Nine thousand women have graduated.

Ladies, Let’s Go Fishing South Florida Seminar and Fishing April 11-13
Ladies, Let’s Go Fishing and the Florida Association of Nonprofits will host the South Florida Offshore Fishing University April 11-13, 2025 at Florida Nonprofit Statewide Headquarters in Fort Lauderdale.
Women can learn and practice fishing at several hands-on skill stations, plus have an option to charter fish offshore on Sunday. Early Registration of $99 includes goodies, networking reception and fundraisers, classes, hands on practice and more. Guided offshore fishing is additional. Ladies can register teens to include the whole family.
