United Way of Broward County proudly celebrated 85 years of transforming lives and strengthening the community during its Annual Mayors’ Gala, held Saturday, April 26, 2025, at the Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino.
The sold-out event brought together more than 800 of Broward County’s most influential leaders, philanthropists, community changemakers, and city mayors and officials representing Broward’s 31 municipalities, for an inspiring evening spotlighting United Way of Broward County’s legacy. Emceed by WSVN Local 7 Anchor and Emmy Award-winning journalist Lynn Martinez, the Gala showcased extraordinary impact—highlighting more than 130 programs offered annually and an investment of over half a billion dollars into the Broward community over the past 85 years.
Joining Kathleen Cannon, President/CEO of United Way of Broward County, was Broward County Vice Mayor Mark D. Bogan who served as the evening’s Honorary Chair, alongside Event Chairs John Cotter of American Meetings, Inc., Bob Swindell of the Greater Fort Lauderdale Alliance. Several of Broward’s 31 city mayors and county and city officials were also in attendance. All proceeds from the evening directly benefits United Way of Broward County’s vital programs and initiatives.

With entertainment by Rock With U, the evening featured a lively cocktail reception, silent and live auctions, an elegant dinner, and a surprise Great Gatsby themed performance, culminating in a powerful program that spotlighted United Way of Broward County’s commitment to fighting for the health, education, and financial prosperity of every person in the community.
