The roomy, well appointed 2024 Ford Maverick XLT starts at just over $26,000, which is a bargain in today’s pickup truck category.

The Maverick XLT delivers 23 miles per gallon in the city 30 miles per gallon on the highway, which is excellent.

Standard on the Maverick XLT is a cabin with bucket seats, a manual six-way adjustable driver seat and manual four-way adjustable passenger seats. So, you get lots of customization for how you experience your ride.

There is rear under-seat storage in the cabin that gives you additional space for tools, valuables and more. The finishing touches include a power moonroof to bring the outside in.

For those looking for tech, the Ford Maverick has a winning combination that includes the inhouse Ford Co-Pilot360 system, FordPass, Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility, which integrates with your mobile phone. I like that the FordPass Connect app allows you to access typical remote features like lock/unlock doors, but also vehicle location, which is incredibly useful in big garages. The Sync 3 technology allows you to request a song or ask for directions using your voice. Finally, the Bang & Olufsen Sound System makes everything from live music to podcasts sound fantastic.

There are also five drive modes to suit your mood and conditions including normal, eco, tow/haul, slippery and sport, and you feel the difference.

The outside is stylish, with 17-inch carbonized gray-painted aluminum heels that are standard on the XLT. The design is modern and compact, which makes fitting into parking spaces easier than you would imagine.

The 2.0-liter EcoBoost engine is plenty strong with 250 horsepower and 277 pound-feet of torque. You can also buy your truck with a 2.5-liter FHEV hybrid engine that includes a power-split electronic continuously variable transmission.

You get a flexbed storage system in the truck bed, which can hold your bicycle and more. Plus the tailgate has multiple positions, six tie-downs and configurable slots for lots of customization. I think this is an important feature because it adds lots of flexibility to a part of the truck that for years was ignored.

The Ford Maverick XLT has a towing capacity of 1,500 pounds, which means you can load up your landscaping tools, drywall, paint, grass and pretty much everything else without a problem.

For those with a boat, there is a solution. The XLT has an available 4K tow package that includes a trailer hitch receiver with a 7-pin connector so you can bring your boat or camper on a weekend away.

I recommend you give the Ford Maverick XLT a drive and tell me if you enjoyed it as much as I did.
