Starting at $54,900, the 3-row 2024 Kia EV9 is an impressive electric vehicle that looks modern and feels versatile.

The Kia EV9’s purpose-built EV platform utilizes ultra-high-strength steel to provide a robust yet lightweight structure, and it looks it. It’s one of the most modern, inspired SUVs I have driven.

It comes equipped with an available 99.8 kWh battery, dual motor e-AWD and a wheelbase you would expect in pricier vehicles. This all-electric SUV has a range of 304 miles.

You can get more power through EV9’s “boost” feature, available on the Wind and Land trims, which increases your motor’s torque from 443 to 516 lb.-ft. That delivers stronger acceleration and more performance that you can feel throughout the vehicle, which is powered by a 379 horsepower engine.

Feel the rush as EV9 accelerates from 0-60 miles per hour in just 4.5 seconds. Experience shorter dry braking from 70-0 miles per hour, engage every turn with better overall cornering performance and excel in emergency maneuvers like quick lane changes.

On the inside, custom comfort is the key: first and second row occupants are treated to lounge seats that offer power leg rests, heated and ventilated seats and power extendable footrests. Fighting over the front seat is a thing of the past with plenty of room in every row, with the EV9 providing a substantial 42.8 inches of second row legroom.

With 81.7 cubic feet of cargo room behind the first row, 43.5 cubic feet behind the second row and 20.2 cubic feet behind the third row, the EV9 lets you take your gear along for the journey. In fact, the EV9 offers more cargo room behind the third row than some of the competition.

The EV9 offers concealable storage throughout with an extendable second row center console, plus high-speed USB charging ports accessible to all three rows, so multiple passengers can power up at once.

Be sure to try the “onboard power generator” that can deliver up to 1,920 watts of electricity to select appliances, laptops and more. It also provides a large-scale portable power bank so you can charge up electric bikes on the go or power up your very own outdoor movie night.

Kia’s vision for EV9’s V2H capability is to make it possible to deliver power back to the home with the vehicle’s battery. For properly equipped homes, the EV9 can reverse its energy flow from the vehicle to your house, to power some devices and appliances. That’s a great feature that can be useful during power outages during rains, snow, hurricanes and more acts of nature.

At the end of the day, the Kia EV9 is a great ride that offers plenty of surprises. Give it a drive and tell me what you think.
