After spending meaningful time evaluating the redesigned QX80 platform, I can say this: the Autograph isn’t trying to win the spec-sheet Olympics. It’s trying to win over buyers who understand luxury doesn’t have to be loud.
Under the hood of this $112,000 beast sits a 3.5-liter twin-turbo V6 producing roughly 450 horsepower and 516 lb-ft of torque, paired with a 9-speed automatic.
The torque delivery is immediate and muscular. For a three-row SUV of this size, throttle response is surprisingly composed – not frantic, not soft. Just confident. The 4WD system distributes power with the kind of transparency you want in a $110,000 SUV. But Towing remains competitive in the segment, and more importantly, highway merging feels authoritative.
But if you want to understand the Autograph trim, open the door and look inside. The dot-quilted semi-aniline leather across all three rows is genuinely impressive. The stitching detail, the open-pore wood with metal inlay and the suede headliner is craftsmanship aimed squarely at buyers cross-shopping Cadillacs and Lincolns.
I love the massaging captain’s chairs and heated third-row seats. The dual 14.3-inch displays are cleanly integrated, not tacked on like floating tablets. The Klipsch premium audio system delivers rich depth without distortion at higher volumes.
As for technology, there’s the “ProPILOT Assist” 2.1 assisted highway system. It’s smooth and confidence-inspiring, especially in long-distance cruising scenarios. And, the 3D around view monitor remains one of the best in the business for maneuvering a vehicle this size. In tight garages, parallel parking situations and highway driving it’s invaluable.
The Autograph trim rides on 22-inch wheels with dark chrome accents and an optional two-tone roof treatment. Where competitors lean into maximalist grille designs, the QX80 feels like refined style.
