Starting at $42,500, the all-electric Hyundai IONIQ 6 is a blast from the future.

Getting inside the cabin, you immediately notice a clean, simple information system with a 12.3-inch touchscreen at the center of it all. You also get a 12.3-inch digital instrument cluster that is easy to read and track all the important information including how many miles you can drive on your current charge.

The leather-wrapped steering wheel has interactive LED pixel illumination, which is clearly a thing now. Dual color ambient lighting provides overall illumination for IONIQ 6’s interior and enables a custom look and feel of the cabin. Users can choose from a spectrum of 64 colors and six pre-selected themes developed by color experts to help drivers and passengers feel relaxed and comfortable. There is “concentration” (blue and green), “healing forest” (yellow and green), “wonderful day” and red and gold, as well as lots of others.

The driver seat has 8-way power adjustments and power lumbar for your back. The cloth seating surfaces look and feel rugged. The long wheelbase allowed Hyundai designers to stretch the interior, front and rear to create optimized legroom and spaciousness that keep passengers comfortable. The platform also allows for a completely flat floor, giving an expansive feeling.

The estimated all electric range is 361-mile range on a dual motor all wheel drive. IONIQ 6 is available with a range of drive motors and battery packs to fit the needs of every customer, with no compromise on performance. Customers can select from two battery pack options: The long-range 77.4‑kWh battery can be mated with two electric motor layouts: either rear-wheel-drive (RWD) or all-wheel-drive (AWD). The top-of-the-line dual motor setup is an AWD option producing a combined power output of 239 kilowatt and 605 Nm of torque.

On the outside, you get 18-inch alloy wheels that are sharp and make a strong impression. Looking at the lines, the available rear spoiler is striking, giving this sedan a modern, sporty style that makes it a standout.

Not only do you get LED headlights and rear lights, but the same LED technology is on the rear view mirrors, keeping the design features consistent throughout.

The combination of features, power and performance contributed together to the IONIQ 6 being named the 2024 MotorWeek Driver’s Choice Award for Best Electric Vehicle, which considers reliability, value and consumer trends.

You can’t get better than this: The Hyundai IONIQ 6’s styling and reliability make it a good choice for your family electric car. Give it a drive and tell me what you think.
