Starting at $79,400, the Chevrolet Suburban High Country is big.
How big? It’s got room for nine passengers. That’s one short of the number of players both teams field in an NBA game. You hear that Miami Heat? You can fit Coach Erik Spoelstra and a few back benchers in here for away games.
But seriously, the Chevrolet Suburban High Country is a beast in all the best ways.
The High Country has a 6.2-liter EcoTec3 V8 engine with dynamic fuel management. Gas mileage for the six-cylinder model is 21 miles per gallon in the city and 27 miles per gallon on the highway for a combined 23 miles per gallon. The engines run from 277 to 420 horsepower, which is plenty of power for any adventure.
Now, Chevrolet has engineered the available Duramax 3.0-liter turbo-diesel to be smart, smooth and balanced. Paired with a 10-speed automatic transmission, it helps give both Tahoe and Suburban a responsive feel. The diesel delivers 27 miles per gallon with 277 horsepower and 460 pound-feet of torque.
On the outside you get the unique High Country signature grille, which really gives the Chevrolet Suburban a great look. You also get 22-inch wheels and all-season tires. That’s a great package for all kinds of driving.
On the inside, you can get leather trim with the stitching, which looks amazing. The amount of room is also really remarkable.
An available 10.2-inch diagonal center touch-screen display paired with available Google built-in allows you to get things done hands-free with voice commands. The available Wi-Fi connection also helps give passengers access and entertainment during every ride.
The Chevrolet Suburban High Country also comes with hands-free driving and trailering across 400,000 miles of compatible roads in the U.S. and Canada, with available super cruise driver assistance technology. Now here’s the important thing about hands-free: sticking to the identified roads is very important to making the technology work the way it is supposed to, so make sure you follow the rules closely.
Available on Z71 and High Country, the four-corner air ride adaptive suspension optimizes ride height and comfort by adjusting the suspension to road conditions. The system is able to adjust the vehicle’s height to provide more clearance or lower it to enhance aerodynamics and improve efficiency. When parked, the vehicle can also be lowered to make getting in and out easier.
For my money, the Chevrolet Suburban High Country is a great family car that can deliver your most precious cargo – family and friends – in safety and comfort. Give it a drive and tell me what you think.
