Starting at $59,400, the Hyundai IONIQ 5 Disney100 Platinum is special for many things including its partnership with Disney.
The Disney100 branding commemorates Disney celebrating its 100th anniversary late last year. To make the connection, the IONIQ 5 Disney100 Platinum has incorporated lots of Disney magic including a digital strip along the front of the car that plays animation. The strip runs the length of the front of the car where the lights are located.
It also has got great branding on the headrests, the floor mats and the center console. Mickey ear graphics are also incorporated into the doors, making it a standout. There is also Disney animation and music on the infotainment system screens inside of the car.
I enjoyed the color matching between the main entertainment screen and the lighting around the speakers and the lights built into the doors. The look of leather on the dash, doors and center console is fantastic and works well with the grey color throughout.
There is also Disney magic on the outside, with branding near the fenders and Disney100 20-inch wheels boasting a design inspired by Mickey ears. The average person might not be able to see it, but Disney fans will see immediately what is referred to as “hidden Mickey ears.” It’s a fun detail.
I also like how the panoramic roof of the IONIQ 5 Disney100 Platinum opens from the center, like curtains at the theater, which worked as a reminder of Disney, too. Not sure if that was intentional.
Now down to the brass tacks: it has a 260-mile all electric range utilizing 74 kW + 165kW, which generates about 320 horsepower.
The exterior has gravity gold matte paint, which looks to me more like silver, giving it a modern, attractive look. I also have to mention the designs of the doors, which have geometric lines that also connect the IONIQ 5 Disney100 Platinum to the future of car making.
Another cool feature is that when you use the keys to open the door locks, the handles pop out diagonally, making them easy to open. I like that as an innovation that gives the car lots of personality from the get go.
Finally, the entire car feels spacious. There is plenty of legroom. I sat in the back and passengers can expect lots of room that makes every drive a pleasure. The seats are also comfortable and the AC circulates air well.
For my money, the IONIQ 5 Disney100 Platinum is a great drive and fun for everyone. Give it a spin and tell me what you think.
