Starting at more than $34,000, the 2022 Kia Sorento Hybrid is a lot of car.

With a powerful turbocharged hybrid powertrain, ample seating and cargo space, plus available AWD, the Sorento Hybrid has got a lot of good things going for it.

The Sorento S Hybrid combines a turbocharged engine with impressive performance that delivers 39 miles per gallon in the city, 35 miles per gallon on the highway and 37 miles per gallon combined.

Climb up to the Sorento LX.1, you get a 227 horsepower engine that produces 258 pounds-feet of torque via the combination of electric motor and gas engine.

The 2022 Sorento Hybrid also delivers a traditional driving experience. Unlike other “gearless” hybrids, Sorento Hybrid shifts by wire through a full gearbox, so it still feels like driving.

The turbocharged hybrid drivetrain provides up to an estimated 655 miles of combined range, which means no need to stop on your trip to Walt Disney World. Another thing I like is that there is no need for a charging station because the battery recharges while you drive, including through regenerative braking, so you can hit the road without having to plan to stop to plug in.

You won’t want to stop when you see and feel the interior. The Sorento Hybrid comes standard with reclining second-row captain’s chairs that slide forward at your touch for easy third-row access. The 2022 Sorento Hybrid has room for six, with standard 50/50 split-folding third-row seats that also fold to expand cargo space if you’re not carrying a full passenger load.

The available smart power liftgate automatically can also open when the smart key is detected, revealing a dual-level cargo floor that can hold taller items or conceal valuables.

The 10.25-inch touchscreen navigation system comes with Kia Connect and interfaces wirelessly with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. That seems like a small feature, but it’s actually a big deal for ease of use every time you or friends and kids get in. No wires is a treat.

The 2022 Sorento is also designed with Kia’s signature safety features including smart airbags that inflate intelligently based on the severity of the impacts. The vehicle’s body also has improved rigidity with a lighter high-strength steel so you can drive with confidence everywhere you go.

At the end of the day, the 2022 Kia Sorento Hybrid is a beautiful car with lots of bells and whistles that make this a must drive.
