Volvo S60 was redesigned last year to give it a new hood, front fenders and fascia, and a wider grille with a larger Ironmark flanked by new headlights.
[dropcap]V[/dropcap]olvo follows up last year’s significant styling revisions to the award-winning S60 sedan with an all-new engine family and a new transmission that deliver better gas mileage, reduced emissions and more fun in driving, resulting in an even more appealing and diverse lineup.

The redesigned front included a new hood, front fenders and fascia, along with a wider grille with a larger Ironmark flanked by new headlights.

New features

In 2015, Volvo will introduce more new features to the S60 lineup:
• New Sensus Connect and Volvo On-Call with six-month complimentary subscriptions are standard;
• New Sensus Navigation with Map Care, standard on Premier and Platinum trim levels and all T6 models;
• New Harmon Kardon Premium Sound System standard on Platinum and optional on other trim levels, and
• New Convenience Package standard on Platinum and available on all other trims. Developed at Volvo’s R&D department in Sweden, two versions of the innovative Drive- E 2.0-liter four-cylinder engine make their debut for 2015 on front-wheel-drive S60 models. The new S60

Under the hood

T5 Drive-E has a turbocharger and direct-injection to develop 240 hp and 258 pounds-feet of torque, with mpg ratings of 25 city, 37 highway and 29 combined.

The next level of performance debuts in the S60 T6 Drive-E. Employing both a turbocharger and a supercharger for the 2.0-liter engine increases output to 302 hp and 295 pounds-feet of torque, while producing mpg ratings of 24/35/28. The mechanically linked supercharger starts to function immediately at low revs while the turbocharger kicks in when airflow builds up.

An all-new standard eight-speed “Geartronic” automatic transmission contributes to the increased efficiency of the new engine family. Quiet, smooth shifts help reduce noise at higher speeds, while additional gears allow the engines to operate at peak efficiency.

The midrange S60 T5 AWD is designed for all-weather driving with Volvo’s signature All- Wheel Drive with Instant Traction. This model has a 2.5-liter turbocharged five-cylinder engine that delivers a balance of performance and economy with 250 hp and 266 pounds-feet of torque teamed with a six-speed “Geartronic” automatic transmission.

Standard All-Wheel Drive with Instant Traction provides the best possible grip in all situations — on wet, slippery or completely dry roads.

The advanced Haldex AWD system delivers power to the wheels with the best grip. When a tire loses traction, power is reduced to that wheel and instantly transferred to the more sure-footed wheels.

The T6 R-Design is Volvo’s ultimate performance S60 powered by a 3.0-liter turbocharged engine that puts out 325 hp and makes 354 pounds-feet of torque. It is the most powerful six-cylinder engine currently offered by Volvo.

Pricing

The Volvo S60 range from $33,750 to $46,950.
