Miami Beach Ocean Rescue is the first public safety agency in Miami-Dade County to introduce a dedicated beach conditions weather hotline. The telephone number, 305.673.7714, is a recorded message that provides new weather and beach conditions daily.
“We feel this information will help our citizens and visitors to better prepare for their beach day and ultimately have a safe and enjoyable day on our beautiful beaches,” said Miami Beach Ocean Rescue Chief Vincent Canosa.
The weather and beach automated hotline will provide information on tide conditions, such as the threat of rip currents or high surf, water temperature, high and low air temperature and details of the colored warning flags and what each means. To contact the automated weather information hotline, dial 305.673.7714. Press option one (1) for daily weather conditions or press two (2) to speak with a live representative. The hotline will be updated daily at 8 a.m. A live representative is available Monday through Sunday from 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. Live surf information is also available online at http://beach.fiu.edu/.
Beach safety information is also available on MBTV, available on Atlantic Broadband Channels 77, 90 or 107.3, AT&T U-verse Channel 99, and on-demand at www.MiamiBeachFl.gov/MBTV77 and the City of Miami Beach YouTube Channel.
