ABBA Revisited to perform at Paws4You Gala February 25

There is no shortage of great events this month. Fast forward to month’s end, Chopard presents Mama Mia, Here We Go Again! on Friday, February 25. After having to postpone this gala benefiting Paws4You in an overabundance of caution, the stage is set now for a fabulous affair at the JW Marriott Miami, 1109 Brickell Avenue. Gala Co-Chairs are Kathy Cowan and Ann Rubino for this event whose honorees will be Eve and Moshe Greenwald.

The affair kicks off at 7 p.m. with a Red Carpet Cocktail and Grand Lux Caviar bar by Grandiosity events. Dinner at 8 p.m. will be followed by a live auction. With Cynthia Demos emceeing, celebrity auctioneer John Curley will bring in the bids. Capping off the night, guests will be treated to a concert by ABBA Revisited. Earlier this month, on February 1, Coral Gables Woman’s Club held their monthly Gringo Bingo hosted by Clutch Burger to benefit their club charities and A Safe Haven for Newborns. The event brought in more than $2,700 thanks to many generous donors and sponsors including EZ Title Services and 1st Empire Elite Financial, Norma Jean Abraham, Lynn Bauer and Hal Wanless, Kings Bowl in Doral, and the University of Miami among others. As always, Clutch owner Steven Bradley emceed the event with DJ Germain volunteering his services with music making this monthly event a party. Coming up next is Presidents’ Day weekend and that long weekend always brings us the Coconut Grove Art Festival with its impressive assortment of artists whose work is on display for sale along South Bayshore Drive while attendees enjoy delicious food and drinks. Just one week later we have the South Miami Rotary Art Festival, Feb. 25-27, a FREE event with great artists, food, music that takes over Sunset Drive between Red Road and S. Dixie Hwy. As for the Coral Gables Rotary Chili Cook Off that was scheduled for February 27, that event has been postponed until April. Athletes will want to join The Huntington’s Disease Society of America’s (HDSA) South Florida Chapter’s 30th Annual Huntington’s Disease Triathlon. Save Sunday, February 27th at 7:00 a.m. for this great charity event being held at Larry & Penny Thompson Park in Miami. The event will include Sprint or Olympic Triathlon distance, Aqua Bike – Swimming and biking only, or Duathlon – Run, Bike, Run. For those who are not familiar with Huntington’s disease, it is a fatal genetic disease that affects the nerve cells in the brain that is described as having ALS, Parkinson’s, and Alzheimer’s disease all at once. Currently, there are approximately 41,000 symptomatic Americans and more than 200,000 at-risk of inheriting the disease. A graduate of the University of Florida with a major in Spanish, Burns has an extensive background in advertising, marketing and reciprocal trade, travel , non profit consulting and management. Before joining Miami's Community Newspapers as a columnist and marketing specialist, Gloria was the Executive Director of the Jr. Orange Bowl Committee (6 yrs.) and first Executive Director of the Coral Gables Community Foundation (14 yrs.) and the Pinecrest Community Foundation (1 ½ yrs) . Burns' volunteer activities led her to become a columnist for Community Newspapers writing Gloria’s Gab, that focuses on the non-profit activity, and a host of an online show, Gloria's Gab LIVE. Gloria serves the board of the Rotary Club of Coral Gables as Civic and Charity Chair, and is involved in the club's International Committee. She is an active Life Member of the Jr. Orange Bowl Committee and is Secretary of the Merrick Festival. She serves on the board of directors of the Coral Gables Woman' Club as Publicity Chair and also coordinates the club's monthly fundraiser for various charities with Gringo Bingo at Clutch Burger. In addition, Gloria participates in numerous other charitable events and is a member of the Business Forum Group, Profit Inc., the Greater Miami Festival & Events Association and the Coral Gables Chamber of Commerce. In other volunteer activity, Gloria helps Miami Christian School with fund-raising and PR; is an Ambassador and volunteers for events for A Safe Haven for Newborns. She is an active member of the Music Ministry at Our Lady of Guadalupe Catholic Church where she enjoys singing in the choir every weekend.
