This Fall is packed with events that provide critical funding for foster kids and children.
Most recently. the Out of Foster Foundation and Citrus Family Care Network’s “Hope Under the Stars Gala” fundraiser was held at Trump National Resort on October 4. The evening kicked off with a beautiful reception with live music, an artist making sketches for guests, multiple photo ops and lots more. Rudy Bustamante, founder of the Out of Foster Foundation, was a recent guest on Gloria’s Gab LIVE video podcast to discuss the affair and the ways the Foundation helps young people aging out of the foster care system, those who have no safety, no parents to help rent their first apartment or help with tuition, etc.
At the Gala as emcee was six-time Emmy Award winning journalist Laurie Jennings with Senator Ileana Garcia, the Vice Chair of Florida Senate’s Children, Families and Elder Affairs Committee, who was the guest speaker.
Among the many notables in the crowd were Miami Dade Tax Collector Dariel Fernandez and City of Coral Gables Assistant City Manager Carolina Vester; Miami Dade Property Appraiser Carlos Garcia; President & CEO of United HomeCare, Carlos Martinez with wife, Gretta; UHC Program Director, Boris Anoceto; Dr. Hal Wanless and Lynn Bauer; Jose Fuentes; Blanca and Hestor Ceballos; Jerry Kavulich; Howard Wolfman; Doral Family Journal’s Ettore and Sandra Sabatella, and Max Losmer.
Earlier that same day, the Family Resource Center held its annual bowling tournament that was another sell-out at Bird Bowl. It was a first-time event for the Coral Gables Woman’s Club who sponsored a team and promises to be one they will look forward to every year.
Idania Lemus, Melissa Vera and volunteers provided teams with everything from pizza, hot dogs and drinks, to a tiny juice shot that many agreed helped with their games. Both semi-pro bowlers to those of us who could not break 100, it was a day full of laughter and fun with friends, new and old. Among the crowd were Chamber South’s Rick Alberti, Lillian Ser, Zack Evangelista, Denise Valluerca, Arely Ruiz and Jessie De Francisco.
In other news, International Mall’s Hispanic Heritage Festival was another great event that helped raise funds for the Simon Youth Foundation. TedX speaker, Facilitator& Wellness at Work Consultant, Marly Casanova, founder of PARK Project (Perform Acts of Random Kindness) was honored at the event along with Madeline Pumariega, President of Miami Dade College; Rosmy Camargo, Founder of Puerta de Oro de Colombia; and honorable mention honoree, Bryan Pena. President and Founder ort BP Media Partners. With live music provided by Latin Trio Grupo Swing, this is always an especially fun event that brings the Hispanic community together. Kudos to Mall Manager, Maria Prado; Director of Marketing, Sara Valega; and staff for making this event special year after year. Among the many faces in the crowd were Jeneissy Azcuy, Adriana Simon-Parra, Ruth Martinez, Iris Garcia, and hundreds more.
