Beyond our city limits, our Doral residents are busy helping those in need throughout South Florida including those who are members of the GFWC Coral Gables Woman’s Club and the Hialeah Woman’s Clubs. Both clubs are collecting gently used tennis shoes to be retreaded and sent to third world countries to provide employment opportunities and a way for many to make a living selling the shoes.. Westland Mall is partnering with the clubs in this effort.

Anyone wishing to donate items may contact Barbara Hassall, President of the Hialeah Woman’s Club, barbara.hassall01@gmail.com, or CGWC President Ruth Martinez at ruthiecgwc@gmail.com.

Speaking of the Coral Gables Woman’s Club, their last September 6th Gringo Bingo hosted by Doral resident Steven Bradley at Clutch Burger raised more than $2,500 to be shared between the CGWC and the National Areata Alopecia Foundation. Former Doral resident Deirdre Nero, of Nero Immigration Law, was one of the event sponsors and will be attending a NAAF conference during which she will present a check from CGWC.
