Lauren Pastrana, of CBS4 News, will return as the Mistress of Ceremony for A Safe Have for Newborns 12th Annual “A Wonderland in Safe Haven” Gala to be held October 19, at the InterContinental Hotel Miami. ASHFN, having already saved more than 400 infants from abandonment and possible death, will have Safe Haven babies, Gloria Hope now 21 years old, Milagros now 19 years old and Kristopher, now 20 years old at the affair as supporters have watched them grow physically, emotionally, intellectually and spiritually over the year.
ASFN founder and CEO, Nick Silverio, shares that this Gala celebrates the lives of those three and the more than 400 precious infants they have helped. This Gala provides critical funding enabling A Safe Haven for Newborns to provide the much-needed support a distressed pregnant girls or women needs and enabling A Safe Haven for Newborns to continue on their mission to end the ultimate in infant abuse, abandonment. In the first seven months of 2024, 18 babies have been given a chance to grow up in the loving arms of their forever families.
Nick, who works 24/7 and has never taken a salary, needs our help to continue saving lives. For information on tickets, auction donations, sponsorships, or donations, go to https://asafehavenfornewborns.com/event/a-wonderland-in-safe-haven-gala/
In other fundraising news, the Coral Gables Woman’s Club’s monthly Gringo Bingo fundraisers for numerous charities returns on Tuesday September 24, with proceeds being shared with the National Alopecia Areata Foundation. Additional revenue to directly benefit NAAF will add some added fun that night with a silent auction coordinated by Deirdre Nero.
Bay 13 Brewery & Kitchen offers ample space for this expanded affair that always gets great community Support. Deirdre, who lives with this condition, has been an amazing champion for the Foundation over the years and this is not NAAF’s first Gringo Bingo. In fact, NAAF’s first event with Coral Gables Woman’s Club came early on when the event was being held at Clutch Burger. By the way, Gringo Bingo was the brainchild of then Clutch Burger owner Steven Bradley who recruited this writer to work with him. After a first successful event, we decided to continue these fundraisers every month and to work with Coral Gables Woman’s Club to distribute funds to charitable efforts. The rest is history having raised more than $100,000 since it began in 2019. To reserve space for the September 24 Gringo Bingo, email gloria@cnews.net.
On the cultural front, The Frost School of Music is partnering with Coral Gables Woman’s Club to present a Jazz Night on September 18, 7:30 p.m., at their clubhouse, 1001 East Ponce de Leon Blvd, Coral Gables. Tickets are $30 per person or $52 for two people. Tickets include 2 drinks. Vendors will also be there for food sales. For info, visit gfwccoralgableswomansclub.org. Proceeds will benefit CGWC’s charitable work including the club’s free children’s dental clinic.
Speaking of business organizations, the oldest business networking group in the county, Profit Inc., recently held their monthly luncheon at Seasons 52. Community Newspapers has been a proud member of this organization for decades and its current president, Carlos Ribero, of NEXT Media, even has a show at CN interviewing members of the group, a membership perk. This group meets the first Thursday of the month for a great lunch at 94th Aero Squadron with a get together for lunch at Seasons 52 on the third Thursdays at noon.
Until next time, share your time and talents, count your blessings, and make a difference.
