The Tooth Healer Foundation, a non profit that provides support for free dental clinic in Miami-Dade County and beyond, promises a day of family fun with rides, face painting, relay races, a treasure hunt, nature tours and more for its first family Fun Day on November 12, from noon to 4 p.m. Tickets are $20 for adults and $10 for children 3-14 years. In other family fun news, the 5K PARK Fest on October 1 benefited charities and encouraged documenting acts of kindness by using coins especially made to document the progress of acts of kindness as they are passed along. Among the charities participating in the day long event was Alfalit, inspired by new Development Director Raquel Hickey, and the event’s presenting sponsor, Office Depot Foundation with its president Mary Wong cheering on their massive team. The weather for this day long event was picture perfect and the crowd had an amazing time with lots of fun activities, live music, food and more. The breeze off the beach at Virginia Key Beach Park was cooling and made for a great setting for this wonderful event.
PARK Project founders, Marly Q and hubby, Humberto Casanova, have such generous hearts and, thanks to their hard work, multiple charities raised funds for important programs that serve our community. Halloween is just around the corner and one of the best and least expensive parties in town will be that of the GFWC Coral Gables Woman’s Club, on Saturday, October 29, 8 p.m., at their clubhouse, 1001 East Ponce de Leon Blvd., Coral Gables. Pinecrest is well represented with members in this club that owns and operates a children’s free dental clinic adjacent to their clubhouse in Coral Gables. Women are encouraged to come with or without a date to meet this amazing group of women who support multiple charitable causes while having fun. Tickets, at only $20 each, include food, entertainment, dancing, costume contest and more. Must be 21 or over. There will be a cash bar. A Safe Haven for Newborns has just celebrated their 248th saved baby. This amazing charity was founded by Nick Silverio, a man who has never taken a salary and works 24/7. It has become a model for other states and provides options and help for pregnant women. Coral Gables Rotary Round-Up Hoedown and Silent Auction at The Colonnade in Coral Gables to benefit Give Kids the World and Rotary Scholarships. District Rotarians looking for members may find this a great party for that purpose. Save the date of Friday, November 18, 7 – 11 p.m. This is one event you can dress down for and leave the tux at home. Tickets at $50 per person will include an open bar, heavy hors d’oeuvres, entertainment, contest, raffles, and silent auction. More on this in upcoming issues.
