The Lady Victors Basketball Team had a great ride through regionals. In March , they made it to the FHSAA State Championship games in March in Lakeland where they defeated FAMU with a score of 73-63 to become the first Ladies Basketball team at Miami Christian to win a FHSAA 2A State Championship.

Not surprisingly, the Lady Victors Basketball Coach, Chanel Davila, was chosen by the sportswriters of Miami-Dade Basketball as “Miami Dade Basketball Coach of the Year” of all participating schools with Girls’ Basketball Teams, both public and private.

In other athletic news, future plans for MCS athletes include those of Senior Sharon Berkley who has committed to play Volleyball next year at St. Thomas University, under the Bobcat’s Head Volleyball Coach, Whitney Battoe.

College acceptances continue to roll in and Senior, Victor Guerrero, has been accepted to Florida International University, Nova Southeastern University and St. Thomas University for next year.

On another front, every Friday in order to build a love of reading, third graders have a time to read with a cuddle buddy (which is later disinfected). Relaxing music and music videos are played via the Smartboard to set a cozy atmosphere and comprehension quizzes are taken on the computer to earn points. Gabriella Saravia is pictured here with her reading buddy.
