Spring is a busy time for the General Federation of Women’s Club (GFWC) Florida. In fact, several members from District 11’s dozen clubs attended a recent convention at the Rosen Plaza in Orlando where many won awards for outstanding program and initiatives.
Coming back from the convention, clubs went full speed into celebratory and fundraising events.
With Mother’s Day on the horizon, on May 11, 1-4 p.m., the Coral Gables Woman’s Club will provide guests with a fun-filled “Mad Hatter” themed event, its fifth annual Mother’s Day Tea. Come dressed for a magical Alice in Wonderland themed afternoon of fun with music, Prosecco, tea, delicious delights by R Catering and an auction.
Tickets are $125 or $85 for those under 21 years. For sponsorship opportunities or tickets, visit gfwccoralgableswomansclub.org.
On Wednesday, Apr. 24, at 11 a.m., the Coco Plum Woman’s Club will hold its fourth annual Lunch and Broadway event at its clubhouse, 1375 Sunset Dr. in Coral Gables. The affair will benefit the club’s Max Gruver Scholarship given annually to a Coral Gables student and, for a second year, to a migrant student from Homestead.
Guests will be entertained with Broadway tunes performed by students from the new Musical Theatre Department at FIU. For tickets, call Kim Schain at 305-322-4626.
Country Night Line Dance & Autism Awareness combine for a great Country Night in the Bay produced by VentureX on Apr. 20, 8:30 p.m., at 9555 SW 175 Terr. in Palmetto Bay.
The event includes food trucks, music by Cutler Stew Band, deejay, line dancing, kids’ activities, laser tag and more. Admission is free but donations are appreciated.
Finally, Lele Reis launched a new collection of jewelry with a celebratory party held recently at Origin on Miracle Mile in Coral Gables. Designer Leticia Matheus, who six weeks prior had delivered a beautiful baby boy, welcomed friends from the local woman’s clubs and fans for the unveiling of the new line on Mar. 29.
Aside from getting a chance to purchase some lovely new jewelry from Leticia and clothes from Origin, ladies especially enjoyed getting a peek at Leticia’s new baby boy, his older sister and dad at the party. Leticia is one of several entrepreneurial women who are members of the Coral Gables Woman’s Club and people of all ages are welcomed to join. Visit gfwccoralgableswomansclub.org.
Until next time, share your time and talents, count your blessings, and make a difference.
