Coral Gables Woman’s Club (CGWC) ballroom was transformed for the club’s “Passage to India” themed Mothers Day Tea with stunning décor.
The affair, a fundraiser for the club’s free children’s dental clinic, offered guests a chance bid on a variety of great silent auction items while enjoying drinks and Indian cuisine as an appetizer plate followed by the usual tea sandwiches and dessert trays. The featured entertainment was provided by a very talented dancer who moved throughout the room and certainly charmed the audience.
Club president Arely Ruiz addressed guests thanking the club’s fundraising co-chairs, Carmen Suarez and Rita Tennyson, and the silent auction chair, Mayra Dominguez, for a lovely event that will provide healthy smiles for many children this coming year.
Among the many guests were former Coral Gables Mayor Dorothy Thomson; GFWC Fl District 11 chair Ruth Martinez; SFLPBS senior vice president of Marketing & Communications Jeneissy Azcuy; GFWC FL District 11 treasurer Nancy Desmangles; CGWC past presidents Barbara Lapsley and Linda Hartwell; Kim Davison; Dr. Iris Torres-Rivera; Kristina Jackson; Alexandra Guillen; Maya Bell; Debbie Courtney; Dr. Christina Burns; Julia Irvin; Cathie Burns, and Allison Bean.
In addition to the tea, many CGWC members are now ready to set sail on MSC World America to raise additional funds for its children’s dental clinic. This fundraising cruise departs June 28, for seven nights.
During a stop in Roatan, Honduras, on July 1, members and their guests will perform a day of service delivering school supplies to a local elementary school in need. This service project was orchestrated by CGWC’s Fundraising Committee co-chair Rita Tennyson, owner of Birdies Bistro and R Catering. Rita hales from Roatan and is planning a special beach party for the group following the visit to the school.
This cruise not only guarantees a fun time but will serve to support the club’s free children’s dental clinic. Cost of the cruise starts at under $1,000 per person. For more info, call 954-900-5942 or visit www.HappeningOutTravel/CGWC/.
