The General Federation of Women’s Clubs District 11 clubs had a busy January with everything from installations to fundraisers and hands-on volunteer projects. The Coconut Grove Woman’s Club installed the club’s 2024 to 2026 officers. Outgoing President Billie Jean Baldwin passed the gavel to President, Illine Davila, after being installed Past District Director Lynda Randolph. Other newly installed officers included 1st Vice President, Greg Breidenbach; 2nd Vice President, Cynthia Shelley; Corresponding Secretary, Sonya DeLong; Recording Secretary, Lara Gallardo; Treasurer Raysa Lebron; and Directors at Large, Billie Baldwin and Marlene Erve.
While one club installed officers, on January 24 Coral Gables Woman’s Club had a different installation. That club held a lovely ceremony coordinated by Membership Chair Kim Davison with the help of Past President Linda Hartwell to install ten new members: Maya Bell, Jennifer Cuellar, Margaret Cullen, Julia Irvin, Teresa Jaramillo, Elena Leonardi, Sonia M, Adriana Pellegrini, Claudia Pernudi and Helen Reguera. That brings the club’s membership count to 98 amazing women with more joining in the spring. Coral Gables Woman’s Club owns and operates a free children’s dental clinic and a beautiful historic clubhouse while also supporting numerous other charitable programs and initiatives.
Members reside all over South Florida, much like the children of the working poor whom the clinic serves.

The Miami Woman’s Club (MWC) knocked it out of the park with a beautiful Tea on Jan 27, coordinated by President Shirley Pardon, of England, who certainly knows her business.
Catered by R Catering, the food was extraordinary and the ladies who donned their favorite hats and fascinators, looked fabulous. The affair began with a social time as guests enjoyed Prosecco, music, photo ops and donated to a raffle to raise funds for a GFWC FL state project.
Meantime, earlier that day Rotarians from all over RI District 6990, and coordinated by Rotarian Robert Bull, gathered at North Pointe Community Center to plant hundreds of trees that Rotarians had donated in memory of a loved one or friend. Longtime Rotarian and MWC President, Shirley Pardon, was among the volunteers with this writer doing double duty with GFWC at the Tea and RI tree planting that day. Among the many Coral Gables Rotarians on hand were President Frank Sexton, Jeneissy Azcuy and Dipak Joshi.
Until next time, share your time and talents, count your blessings and make a difference.
