GFWC Coral Gables Woman’s Club President, Ruth Martinez, was finally honored after some Covid related delays with an affair to remember. On June 25, Ruth, who is now serving a second 2-year term, was celebrated with a beautiful dinner dance at CGWC’s historic clubhouse. DJ Germain provided music for the night while guests enjoyed food by Rita Tennyson/ R Catering.

The event with its 60’s theme was a spectacularly fun night. DJ Germain’s hippie attire was certainly one of the best although everyone looked terrific dressed in their favorite 60’s attire. During the reception before dinner guests enjoyed passed hors d’oeuvres and drinks including Rita’s special strawberry margaritas with flowers and all. The music was so good that the dance floor was occupied all night with a short break for dinner. While the affair was coordinated by Arely Ruiz and Iris Segui, both were unable to attend and passed the event night tasks to Past President Linda Hartwell who is always one to step up and help.

Ruth was especially grateful to have in attendance GFWC District 11 Director Virginia Yermoli and several other District 11 Presidents and member. Among the many enjoying the night with President Ruth were her husband, son and daughter-in-law: Sam Martinez with Carlo and Emma Martinez; Maribel Trujillo-Fruitstone (President of El Portal Woman’s Club); Lavette Moore (President of the Woman’s Club of Historic Overtown); Past CGWC Presidents Barbara Lapsley and Linda Hartwell; Cathie Attias and hubby; Nancy Desmangles; Kim Davison; Gloria Burns; Theresa Gilmore; Carol Horkowitz; Kristina and Muzzie Jackson; Margarette Beauchamp and hubby; Lucita Moran; and Kayla Blake.
