Service, sports and fall events fill Miami Christian School’s calendar

Fall brings lots of activity at Miami Christian School where giving back is nothing new to students there. As an example, the school partners with OneBlood in Miami every year to hold blood drives on their campus affording students and staff a chance to serve their community by donating blood and to increase awareness of the need in the area for their donations.

In other fall activity, on October 29, students at Miami Christian enjoyed the school’s Annual Harvest Festival that also served as a fundraiser for the victims of Surfside, with any profits from the day’s event being earmarked for that purpose. Aside from raising funds, the event provided a fun day with something for all ages including cornhole competitions, 9 ball, petting zoo, pumpkin decorating, hayrides, volleyball, and more.

In the sports scene, the MCS Varsity Victors baseball team competed in the Prospect Select Miami World Series from November 12-14 in Palmetto Bay coming out with the championship.  The Victors won the tournament defeating Columbus High School 7-4 in the final game.  The participating schools were:  Belen Jesuit, Braddock, Columbus, Florida Christian, Gulliver, Killian, Miami Christian, St. Brendan, Terra and Westminster Christian.

Congratulations to Coach Cuadra and his varsity team on a great tournament win.

On another note, MCS seeks to prepare students in preparation for college with a Practical Living class taught by Ms. Charlene Coulter. Students learn how to prepare food from scratch that they can cook when they go off to college and live in a dorm. Recently the class prepared individual pizzas from scratch that they then later enjoyed eating.

MCS is now enrolling for the Winter semester.  Families interested in becoming a part of Miami Christian should call 305.221.7754 x773 for their personalized tour of the school and an introduction to its programs.
